2010 Sales Intern - Memphis Redbirds (Memphis, TN)

The Memphis Redbirds, Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals are currently in search of Sales Interns. The position provides interested and qualified candidates an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports through our challenging and rewarding internship program. The Memphis Redbirds are the first not-for-profit professional baseball team and facility in the United States. In addition, the Redbirds play all home games at AutoZone Park, which has gained national attention as the best ballpark in the country below the Major League level.

The Sales Intern will work directly with the Director of Sales and the Sales Department.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Actively researching and developing partnership prospects;
2. Maintaining regular contact with season ticket holders and suite owners in order to assist them in making the most of their partnership with the Redbirds;
3. Producing sales and sales leads through telemarketing, door-to-door calls, and interactions at events and games.
4. Serving as the liaison between Redbirds advertising clients and the appropriate outlets; this may include creating and/or collecting ad copy for print advertising, collecting and delivering appropriate radio copy to the radio station or securing the proper artwork for a billboard ad
5. Making numerous phone calls to potential and existing clients;
6. Developing proof-of-performance packages for sponsors;
7. Keeping sales records and prospects organized in the Redbirds database.

• Other duties include selling season and game day tickets, group sales, advertising sales, hand-delivering pocket schedules to businesses, answering phones, and various game-time duties.

Interns will receive a monthly compensation + housing will be provided

The position begins in January 19, 2009 and lasts until the end of the season.
