2010 Media Relations Intern - Memphis Redbirds (Memphis, TN)
The Memphis Redbirds, Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, are currently in search of a Media Relations Intern. The position provides interested and qualified candidates an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports through our challenging and rewarding internship program. The Memphis Redbirds are the first not-for-profit professional baseball team and facility in the United States. In addition, the Redbirds play all home games at AutoZone Park, which has gained national attention as the best ballpark in the country below the Major League level. This is a very writing intensive experience and candidates must be knowledgeable in sports, have excellent communication skills, and be computer literate.
The Media Relations Intern will work directly with the Media & Public Relations Manager.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Establishing and maintaining a good relationship with local and regional media outlets;
2. Assisting in creation of the Redbirds souvenir program, media guide, game day magazine and other publications;
3. Production and distribution of media credentials, game notes, statpacks, press releases, team rosters, and daily program inserts;
4. Serving as the primary liaison for operation of Redbirds TV broadcasts;
5. Updating statistics—particularly for media outlets and the Redbirds website;
6. Managing the press box—personnel, equipment and execution of game promotional script;
7. Assisting in press conferences regarding the team, organization and ballpark.
• Other duties include season ticket, game day ticket and advertising sales, operational responsibilities and phone duties.
Interns will receive a monthly compensation + housing will be provided
The position begins in January 19, 2009 and lasts until the end of the season.
