2010 Group Sales Intern - Memphis Redbirds (Memphis, TN)
The Memphis Redbirds, Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, are currently in search of two Group Sales Interns. These positions provide interested and qualified candidates an opportunity to gain valuable experience in professional sports through our challenging and rewarding internship program. The Memphis Redbirds are the first not-for-profit professional baseball team and facility in the United States. In addition, the Redbirds play all home games at AutoZone Park, which has gained national attention as the best ballpark in the country below the Major League level.
The Group Sales Intern will work directly with the Group Sales Coordinator.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Communicate group ticket availability to interns and staff, answer questions related to group sales, and assist with the reservation process.
2. Ensure proper operation of all the event areas at AutoZone Park which includes positioning appropriate signage, distributing gifts to rented suites, etc.
3. Hire, manage, and schedule gameday attendant staff.
4. Work extensively in the Redbirds ticketing system to ensure that there are no double bookings of group reservations; contact clients to ensure timely payment of all group reservations and print and package group tickets.
5. Other general departmental duties include composition & distribution of the gameday group list, answering incoming group sales calls, and constant proactive calls to new prospects.
6. Book and implement all ballpark birthdays.
7. Assist Group Sales Executives throughout the Group Sales process.
8. Provide customer service through the fielding of customer complaints, concerns, and comments.
9. Work with Ovations Food Services catering to schedule group event catering..
• Other duties include selling advertising, season, groups, and game day tickets, answering phones and various game-time duties.
Interns will receive a monthly compensation + housing will be provided
The position begins in January 19, 2009 and lasts until the end of the season.
