Community Relations Manager
Start Date: December 1, 2014
Reports to: Director of Community Relations
As an integral part of the overall success of the organization, this position is responsible for positioning the Nashville Sounds profile in the community at large with the delivery of a strong message of involvement in the area. Assists efforts related to the community relations mission in a way that generates both fan loyalty and increased revenues through ticket sales and sponsorships.
Represents the organization with the utmost professionalism in the community
Exhibits a caring message to the community in a professional manner. Displays a strong knowledge about the Nashville Sounds programs, community trends, non-profits focus, and corporate supporters in the area.
Explore opportunities and engage in opportunities to be involved in large-spotlight community initiatives in Nashville. (Mayor Dean, Governor Haslem, Metro Schools)
Strong relationship with local non-profit organizations. Steady contact with connections to keep involvement in existing community program or new opportunities. Continuous work to create new relationships in the non-profit community.
Plan, organize, and implement all community events and player appearances. Coordinate logistics in conjunction with Director of Community Relations. Coordinate any player participation in conjunction with Media Relations Department. Prioritize and layout the schedule, camp material, lunches, etc.
Develops and implements grassroots marketing, cause-related marketing and community relations initiatives geared towards creating community awareness
Conceptualizes community programs and campaigns with elements of grassroots and cause-related marketing elements to increase the Sound’s community impact with added value for potential ticket purchases and extra tie-ins for sponsors with community focus.
Evaluates and improves the Sounds community programs with strong community interest, improving the ballpark experience for fans, and economical cautious to keep revenues at maximum level.
Assists planning and executing all fundraising events
Develops and outlines potential in-stadium, off-site fundraisers to help increase revenues for the Nashville Sounds Foundation and the Nashville Sounds baseball club through additional elements of sponsorship, increased exposure for ticket sales, and any media following with such events.
Discover non-profit partners eager to participate with investment cost and or potential sponsor. Evaluate non-profits programs to create an outline for the campaign, which generates revenues for Nashville Sounds Baseball, Nashville Sounds Foundation, and selected charitable organization.
Plans all in-stadium fundraising event dates, in conjunction with Sales & Marketing Department based on promotional schedule to ensure maximum potential for ticket sales PA announcements, and charitable fundraising.
Designs and develops materials related to fundraising events, for marketing and community-focused image of the event to achieve maximum awareness. Coordinates in conjunction with Media Relations Department for online and print visibility.
Purchases all materials needed for fundraising events, executing delivery and payment check requests. Upon arrival, evaluates inventory and coordinates in conjunction with Media Relations Department in regards to roster moves, player numbers, autographing, and team participation post-game.
Coordinates with Community Relations Department on setup and layout of auction area prior to gates, creating a strong visual for fans and the select non-profit organization. Oversees registration and all transactions with Box Office Manager to receive total of payments received to reconcile with bid sheets for accuracy, and fundraising reports. Submits check requests to Accounting Department for donation.
Planning of daily in-game fundraising based upon availability of items and inventory. Coordinates PA Announcements with Sales & Marketing Department for additional exposure. Tracks daily amounts raised for accuracy, and submits all payments to Accounting Department.
Oversees daily personalized Public Address Announcements. Ensures that all announcements paid and announced. Retrieves cash bank from the Accounting Department for any cash transactions. All revenues received are submitted to the Accounting Department at the end of the evening. Develops signage, and PA forms for announcements to be made. All nightly announcements are documented for accuracy.
In conjunction with the Marketing (Media Relations) Department, coordinates the promotional appearance schedule for the team mascot, players and coaches
Scheduling of all community appearances, including speaking engagements and player appearances.
Any appearances requiring Sounds players are coordinated in conjunction with the media relations department, with proper notice of a minimum of (1) homestand prior to with a description and signup for the event.
All speaking engagements are scheduled as speakers are coordinated based upon availability
Community appearances are scheduled throughout the season, with relation to the Sounds community focus.
Fulfills Sounds charitable foundation requests
Evaluates all charitable requests, requesters are notified of fulfilled or unfulfilled donation status based on request and donation policy.
Any request outside of the typical, are evaluated and approved by management
All requests and donations are databased for ownership and management reference, and for future opportunities.
Reserve all skyboxes, picnic, and special experience donations in conjunction with Sales & Marketing Department, based on available inventory.
Assembles community relations report including all community aspects of Sounds baseball including; description of community promotions and programs, contributions in-stadium and monetary, ticket and merchandise donations, and individual staff community involvement.
Submits all information online to MiLB for end-of-season community reports. Information is distributed to key Sounds staff members for purposes of proof-of-performances, and sales pitches for future sponsorships.
Conducts some sponsorship and group-related sales
Sponsorships and Group Sales related to the Nashville Sounds and Nashville Sounds Foundation’s community programs and initiatives. (Nashville Sounds Reading Club, Nashville Sounds Summer Reading Club, Charity of the Night program, Sounds CARE, Ticket Fundraisers)
Assists and coordinates in-stadium implementation of birthday sales with Community Relations Manager.
Coordinates all community-based sponsorship benefits including mascot appearances, in-kind and monetary donations in conjunction with appropriate member of the Sales & Marketing Department.
Assists in needed stadium operations duties.
Tarp pulls, firework debris pick-up, etc.
- Collegiate degree and related experience in communications and/or community relations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
- Outgoing and personable, energetic, and customer service minded attitude
- Ability to work in and contribute to a high-energy team environment
- Ability to work flexible and demanding hours including nights, off hours, and weekends

The Nashville Sounds are opening First Tennessee Park in April of 2015. The Sounds recent rebranding efforts ensure that our team store will be a vital part of our growth. We are looking for an enthusiastic team member to assist the Director of Merchandise in making our team store a key part of First Tennessee Park.
Specific responsibilities include:
Help manage receiving inventory (including physical count) and help with monthly inventory counts
Help create new designs for merchandise (hats, t-shirts, novelties, etc)
Opening and closing Team Store including store deposits and closing paperwork
Help set up all merchandise retail locations prior to each game or event
Design and rotate store layouts and kiosks to maximize revenue
Build merchandise displays using new and promotional items
Assist in changing fixtures and shelving as needed
Perform regular merchandise price changes and markdowns
Process internet and phone orders
Manage point-of-sale system
Ensure a high level of customer service
Help manage and train the game day personnel, as well as creating their schedule
Other tasks as provided by Director of Merchandise
At least 2 years retail experience
Experience in sports retail is preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Strong customer service skills
Ability to work long, flexible hours including weekends, nights, and holidays
Able to assist other departments as needed, including pulling the tarp
As the Nashville Sounds enter a new and exciting chapter in our rich baseball history by opening a new state-of-the-art ballpark in 2015, we are in search of aggressive, motivated, young superstars to join our team.
Premium Sales Manager is primarily responsible for generating new business through the sale of premium ticket and hospitality inventory for the new First Tennessee Park. It includes the selling of Club Seats, nightly hospitality, and suite areas through cold-calling, face-to-face appointments, and networking opportunities. Ideal candidates have 2-3 years sales experience with a professional sports organization, preferably in premium/suite/hospitality sales.
This position will be focused on prospecting, appointment setting, executing sales presentations, and closing sales
Set and conduct out of the office sales appointments throughout Middle Tennessee
The candidate will be accountable for certain levels of activity (calls and appointments), appointment goals, and closed sales goals
Candidate should possess an optimistic team-first attitude, as well as the competitive desire to be the best
Candidate should possess both the personal and communication skills to conduct face to face presentations
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
2-3 years of prior sports sales/industry or equivalent sales experience is preferred
Experience selling via face-to-face appointments
Proven ability to work in a team-oriented environment
Professional verbal and written communication skills
Candidate should possess excellent time management and organizational skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Candidate must have a strong work ethic and a desire to build a career in professional sports
