Facility Operations/Security: Grounds Crew/Turf Management
Assistant Groundskeeper - Nashville Sounds Baseball Club (Nashville, TN)

The Nashville Sounds, Triple-A Affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, are seeking a full-time Assistant Groundskeeper to add to our staff at First Tennessee Park. The Sounds' grounds crew received a Presidential Commendation from the Pacific Coast League office for its work during the 2017 season and we are seeking to add a quality individual to our award-winning staff.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Turf Management:
   o Conducts and executes proper irrigation of field
   o Safely and effectively be able to apply fertilizers and pesticides
   o Conducts proper cultivation of turf
   o Seeding and sodding of turf areas
   o Must be able to mow straight consistent lines
   o Maintains updated MSDS and chemical app records on a weekly/monthly basis

Skin Management:
   o Properly maintain level, consistent infield surface consistent with MLB requirements
   o Properly maintain correct texture and moisture levels of infield skin
   o Proper maintenance of mounds and batter’s box

Equipment Management:
   o Handles equipment preventative maintenance
   o Safe and efficient operation of all equipment used in job (i.e.: tractors, spray rigs, reel mowers, utility vehicles, etc.)

Exterior Landscape Management:
   o Assists in helping to make First Tennessee Park grounds a showcase
   o Provides management assistance pertaining to exterior landscaping

Special Events on the field:
   o Assists in providing an exceptional entertainment value for every guest
   o Protects field to fullest extent
   o Repairs field after special events

Assists in maintaining the clean and neat appearance of grounds throughout facility (may include picking up trash as seen, etc.)

Maintains shop and equipment in a very neat and organized fashion

Provides daily supervision (assigning tasks, following through to ensure completion of assignments, provide training, provide discipline as needed, maintaining work standards and rules, etc.) for a staff of up to 2(day) or 5(night)

Assists with the hiring and scheduling of staff including interns

Any other tasks or responsibilities as assigned  

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least a two-year degree in Turf Management or equivalent experience
  • At least 2 years experience at a major and/or minor league baseball facility with natural grass 
  • Experience with turf / fertility management, an automatic irrigation system, working with the skinned portions of a baseball field
  • Must have experience in application of fertilizers and pesticides
  • One year of supervisory experience preferred (providing direction, assigning tasks, training, and maintaining work standards and rules)
  • Physical Requirements: Requires lifting of heavy equipment and materials, constant walking, some running throughout entire shift worked
  • Able to work extremely flexible schedule, which includes days, nights, weekends, holidays and overtime
  • A strong hands-on work ethic, along with the ability to maintain a positive attitude all year-round
  • Open to change and adopt new work habits
  • Consistent and punctual attendance
  • Strong ability to work well with co-workers and supervisors in a team environment

Creative Services: Graphic Designer - Nashville Sounds (Nashville, TN)

The primary function of the Graphic Designer position will be to assist the Nashville Sounds with a wide variety of Marketing & Promotions designs:

  • Create original large scale layout print pieces: pocket schedule, game day program, ticket hospitality guide, flyers, posters, print ads, etc.
  • Create original digital pieces for social media, website, billboards, Facebook advertising, etc.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Highly motivated, creative individual with a strong work ethic and drive to produce high quality graphical content day in and day out
  • High understanding of graphic design and layout concepts
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
  • Strong grasp of photography: from editing, cropping, selection, and use within graphics

  • Ability to multi-task and complete projects in a timely manner, often under tight deadlines

Creative Services: Motion & Video Specialist - Nashville Sounds (Nashville, TN)

The primary function of the Creative Services position will be to assist the Director of Video and Digital Production with a wide variety of tasks including but not limited to:

  • Assist in creating motion graphics for in-game ballpark presentation & promo/marketing efforts, including but not limited to ballpark video board, LED boards, social media, web & TV
  • Assist in video production, including tasks involved with camera set up and operation, lighting, audio and editing.
  • Assist with production shoots, edits, and in-game entertainment features

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Strong grasp of videography and non-linear video editing
  • Proficient in Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator and Premiere Pro
  • An understanding of audio/visual equipment

Stadium Operations Internship - Nashville Sounds Baseball Club (Nashville, TN)

Employment Dates: February 26, 2018 - October 5, 2018

Compensation: $9.50/hr., 38 hrs per week

Stadium Operations Intern will be required to work normal office hours (9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) before the season as well as any other events at state-of-the-art First Tennessee Park.

Stadium Operations Intern is expected to work to achieve the highest level of customer service for our fans as well as relaying a positive image of the Nashville Sounds in the community.

DUTIES:

  • Assist Stadium Operations staff with daily upkeep of facility
  • Assist with management of Parking Lot operations, including seasonal staff
  • Assist with managing Sweepers, Cleaning Crew, and Security
  • Set-up and tear-down for events, ensure ballpark cleanliness, and otherwise work inside and out
  • Work with other departments with various needs as it relates to that day's event


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Applicant must have an interest in learning about this department and have an interest in continuing a career in professional baseball
  • Positive attitude is a must
  • Ability to multi-task and handle responsibility
  • Skills with various workshop tools a plus
