Group Event Coordinator - Tacoma Rainiers (Tacoma, WA)
Description: The Tacoma Rainiers (Triple-A Affiliate of the Seattle Mariners) are the Cinderella story in sports business. Prince Charming arrived during the 2007 season in the form of Kirby Schlegel (Principal, SSG) and a young energetic front office headed up by team President and Schlegel Sports Vice President of Teams, Aaron Artman. Not only have Schlegel Sports and Artman set revenue and attendance records in Tacoma but now a new stadium is in the works for 2011.
‘Who are these guys?’ you may ask. Kirby Schlegel is a young talented entrepreneur who, like us, loves sports and everything around it. Not only does Schlegel Sports own the Cinderella story in Minor League Baseball, the Tacoma Rainiers, but they also own the Texas Tornado, a hockey team in the North Dallas suburbs with 3 recent National Championships under their belt. Schlegel Sports has also added a successful sports agency under the umbrella, Schlegel Woy Management. What’s next, Kirby?
As far as Artman, he has worked at all levels of Minor League Baseball (Dayton Dragons, Frisco RoughRiders, Las Vegas 51s, Tacoma Rainiers) and at the large corporate level with Microsoft. Aaron has quickly made his mark on the Schlegel teams with his unique and cutting edge marketing, ticket plans and partnership opportunities. He has made it a point to surround himself with the best possible people who understand the vision and will not settle for anything less than greatness.

From the athlete to the front office, the glamour surrounding this industry was created by dedication, hard work, sweat, integrity and a competitive desire to be the absolute best. So, if you are not motivated, if you do not want to dominate, if you do not want to change the landscape of the sports industry, stop reading this and apply elsewhere.
If you are still reading you can probably tell we are not the average sports business organization you studied about in your sport management classes. You are right. And you probably believe as we do that being average is failure. This means you ‘get it’ and we want you to be on our team.
