INTERNSHIPS: The Sky Sox have FIVE FULL-TIME internships available for the 2010 season. All will begin on Monday, January 11th, 2010 and conclude Friday, September 10th. The Sky Sox Public Relations Internship is designed to teach the operation of a Minor League Baseball PR department through an immediate hands-on approach. The PR intern works closely with the Director of Public Relations in all areas and upon completion of the program will possess the skills to successfully organize and operate a Minor League Baseball team’s public relations program. Examples of some of the tasks for this position include but are not limited to: Compiling and produce daily statistics pack, writing game notes, distribute information packets to both teams, clean and organize the press box (including press box meal), assist with all media interviews and requests, assist with team travel, handle GameDay software responsibilities, plus much more.
REQUIREMENTS:
• This is a writing heavy position so solid writing skills are a must. A working knowledge of baseball including it’s rules is also important. The Fresno Grizzlies, Triple A- Affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, are seeking highly motivated candidates to become vital members of our marketing department. Prospective marketing interns should be passionate, enthusiastic, and creative individuals who are excited to work in a team setting. Interns will be exposed to different aspects of Grizzlies marketing efforts including promotion development, design, new media, game entertainment, sales, media relations, and community relations initiatives. Marketing interns will be expected to promote the Fresno Grizzlies at various grassroots marketing campaigns throughout the community, often on weekends and holidays. This internship will offer individuals real experience within a professional sports organization while allowing them to grow in the process. Applicants must be able to receive course credit, preferably towards a degree in marketing, business, sports marketing, or related field, for this non-paid internship. Previous experience with sports, event marketing and/or graphic design is a plus. Although scheduling is flexible, a commitment to work nights, weekends, and game days is strongly encouraged. Applicants must also have a clean driving record. This internship will run from the spring semester of 2010 through the end of the Grizzlies’ baseball season.
Essential Duties
• Assist in development of grassroots marketing initiatives
• Transport Fresno Grizzlies vehicles, staff, players, merchandise, mobile marketing booth, equipment and other items to and from community events outside the stadium
• Set-up all elements at event sites including Grizzlies merchandise, interactive elements (inflatables, tables, etc.), giveaways and sponsor items

Execute pre, in, and post game promotions for both Beavers & Timbers games

A/V (2 interns)
Planning, shooting, and editing of video elements for game and other team uses
Upload and test all videos on V-Play
Sound board or Camera operation on specific nights
V-Play operation (running videos, capture & replay of game action)
Download & conversion of daily KOIN weather videos (if that element is renewed for next year)
Backup of good replays from V-Play machine for use in recap videos etc.
Recording, logging and organizing footage from games
Assisting with creation of still and animated graphics for in-game use when needed
All other duties as assigned by the Manager, Promotions or Production Coordinator
Soccer Administration (1 intern)
Work with general manager and team administrator to assist with any office administration functions
Assist team administration with panning and execution of tryouts
Design, research, creation and distribution of Timbers 2009 player trading card sets
Set up and execute Timbers online jersey auctions using eBay
Must be able to work match days, as well as some long or unusual hours
Assist team administrator with coordinating and confirming Timbers team travel arrangements
Assist with all visiting teams, including foreign exhibition teams
PDL Soccer Administration (1 intern)
Work with team administrator to assist with any office administration functions
Design, research, creation and distribution of PDL Marketing Plan
Take and process PDL season ticket orders
Set up and execute all PDL operations including administrative and game-day tasks
Must be able to work match days, as well as some long or unusual hours
Assist team administrator with coordinating and confirming Timbers PDL team travel arrangements

Soccer Camp Coordinator (1 intern)
Primary contact and primarily responsible for all matters relating to Timbers summer youth soccer camps
Create camp brochure for distribution
Maintain and update existing camper database
Process all registrations and payment for campers
Coordinate check-in and check-out of campers on camp day
Coordinate with coaching staff to ensure adequate coaches are staffed for camp and with team administrator to ensure adequate camper supplies
Work with administrator to investigate additional areas to host camps and tap additional revenue streams
Video Analysis (1 intern)
The VA Intern will be responsible for familiarizing themselves with the video analysis software provided.
Meet with the Timbers coaching staff on a weekly basis and provide the coaching staff with a game-specific video breakdown as well as a written synopsis of the breakdown.
This position will also be expected to attend home games and may be asked to film specific parts of all home games.
The VA Intern is expected to complete 20 hours per week, some of which can be completed off-site.
The VA Intern is expected to have a knowledge and proficiency in computers (Excel and Word), have a laptop PC and a soccer background.

2010 Pre-Season Internship at PGE Park - Portland Beavers and Portland Timbers (Portland, OR)
This is your opportunity to be an insider to the sports industry. Six internships are available for the 2010 pre-season. All internships are unpaid positions open to current college students or recent college graduates. As an intern, you have the distinct opportunity to work for the Portland Beavers, Triple-A to the San Diego Padres and the Portland Timbers, USL – 1st Division soccer team.
Pre-Season Internships are available in the following departments: Ticket Sales, Community Outreach, Media Relations, Promotions and Soccer Administration. Start dates are negotiable depending upon the qualified candidate’s availability, but normally start no later than February. Some evening and weekend hours are required for all internships.
Ticket Sales Department (2 interns)
Assist Ticket Sale Department on pre-season sales initiatives
Help with pre-season ticket sales events
Help develop new ticket sales ideas and programs
Be a Portland Beavers & Timbers representative
Assist in planning of Kids Club and data capture initiatives
Community Outreach (1 intern)
Assist with departmental direct mailings
Lead tours of the stadium
Lead on LUCKY Assembly Program presented by US Bank; which entails contacting schools to schedule assemblies, working with emcee on scheduling, being on-site contact at each assembly and setting up and taking down all assembly materials
Research community programs with other teams and assist with the development of new programs for the Beavers/Timbers
Manage informational table at off-site conventions, community related fairs and events
Contact area businesses to set-up trade deals for player/staff incentives

Guest Services/Operations Intern - Sacramento River Cats (West Sacramento, CA)
The Guest Services/Operations Interns will be directly involved in managing all game day operations, assisting in HR aspects of our organization, as well as other related tasks as needed.
Guest Services and HR duties: Help with job fairs and recruiting staff, interviewing, scheduling training, pre-screening process, scheduling interviews, sending response letters, manage applications, upkeep of employee files, processing new hire and exit paperwork, ordering background checks, filing, uniform distribution and inventory, employee reviews, collecting employee surveys, calculating data, employee incentives, archive files, enter employee availability calendars, print badges, take employee pictures, assemble name tags, assist in payroll editing, monitor employee infractions and send appropriate correspondence, prepare event recaps after each game, calling employees as needed, other administrative tasks as directed by Operations team.
Operational Duties: work in Guest Service office assisting with guest issues, shadow event manager during events, prepare suites for game time, fill in employee positions as needed, help with giveaways/promotions, print employee positioning reports, prepare brief sheets, assist in daily operations of Raley Field – help prepare stadium for use before and after an event, set up concourse (tables, stanchions, signage, etc), prepare Kid’s Corner spreadsheets for budgetary purposes, prepare parking ticket logs, assist daily operations staff as needed.
Required Skills Include:
• A working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook)

Ticket Sales & Services Internship - Sacramento River Cats Baseball Club, LLC (West Sacramento, Ca)

The Sacramento River Cats, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A’s, are getting ready to begin our 11th season. During nine of the last ten seasons, we have ranked at the top nationally in attendance, setting new all-time records for the Pacific Coast League in the process. This past season, more than 700,000 fans attended River Cats home games. Raley Field has been the toast of the region since its debut in May of 2000. With a seating capacity of 14,414, it features 36 luxury suites, 2,500 club seats, a stadium club, multiple group party areas, children’s playground, a giant LED video board and an impressive audio/visual production center.

Job Description:
The intern will be a member of an experienced team that makes up part of the Ticket Sales and Services Department for the River Cats. He/She will be directly involved in the implementation and servicing of River Cats Ticket Sales operations and group ticket activities & events. Some direct responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
• General ticket sales & services events, event hospitality, pre-game set-up, group raffle execution
• Implementation of promotional plans for specific game days
• Assisting with mailing projects
• Sales – receive formalized sales training and make sales calls in order to sell River Cats tickets
• Attending various meetings as a representative of the River Cats to boost ticket sales
• Maintaining account executive ticket order binders
• Assisting with group flier preparation, as needed
• Assisting with planning of season events
• Assisting with execution of group sales events
Required Skills include:
• A working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Willing to work non-traditional hours, including and especially nights and weekends
• Ability to work well with clients, fans and staff based on event needs
